I used to hate going back home into Robert B.Mueller, K-AUS

I’d approach IFR at 12,000’ & they’d step me down to around 3,500 on vectors.

Then, well inside Round Rock, they’d say “Cleared to land”, but the Airport elevation was around 500’ MSL, so I’d have to do a rapid descent w/o reducing too much power to prevent shock cooling of my turbocharged engines.

It was like stunt flying. I’d warn passengers, then tell them “Hold-on!”. They’d have a death grip on the seat edges, despite my earlier explanations.

Never any real emergency, but it was a tough homecoming.

Yep. Got 2 of then in the corn fields and hadn't seen any birds or scorpions or ogres,or field mice, Even the neighbors are taking the long way around to town. :usflag:
    Why bless they hearts!

Closer to home...the local SuperMarket (DiMaio's) on occasion bakes up a batch of the most wonderful BLUEBERRY SCONES!

Their Bakery is every bit as good as their MEAT & DELI counters! (which are EXCELLENT!)
