My youngest daughter, a very gifted actress even as a child, was denied the opportunity to attend Houston/HISD's High School for Performing Arts, precisely because she was white and gifted.
Back then (1990's) it was a racial quota system, AKA Affirmative Action, despite white students in HISD being, and still are, a minority (currently roughly 12 - 9%).
Ask me again why I detest what Texas has turned into ...
