Picked up flags this morning in Houston National Cemetery that we set out last Sunday. My wife and I lead the volunteers in Section B with well over 4000 graves. The organization is Flags for Fallen Vets.

It was a little foggy at 0730. Thankfully, the rain held off.

    Texarkana - Across The Border
Frittered most of the day away so far. Watched one of my favorite movies today - The French Connection. Has one of the best car chase scenes ever in it albeit, the car is chasing an elevated line train. Have not seen it in too long a time, really enjoyed it today as I did the first time I saw it in 1971, I think that was the year. I was a youngster then and actually had to ask my mom for permission to go to the movies with my friends. They were leaving soon, so I ran upstairs to our apartment from the street, burst into the apartment, ran into the kitchen where my mom was sitting with my Godmother (who we called my aunt though she was not related) and I blurted out something very close to: 'My friends are all going to the movies, can I go too? It's called The French Extension'. At that point both my mom and aunt just about fell off of the kitchen chairs, on which they had been sitting, as they both burst out laughing and just about simultaneously said 'What is it called'! Finally convinced mom, with my aunt's help, to let me go. Learned something new about my mom that day, at least with regard to things she knew about that I would never have thought she knew about! As for my aunt, there was no question about the things she knew about!
