No, that was the plan moving here but 60+ hours/week killed that.

I’ve been wanting a 1911 and here is one local. He mentioned he did not use Kimber mags, so curious what he used.

As far as the green, they look greenish, could be the lights. I’m a sucker for green guns. The Glock I bought was green, kinda why I bought it. I figure if this is green and local, it might be a sign.

    Break.

Anything to look out for with Kimbers? I’ve seen some folks mention they had some bad years. What about you @Moonpie any thoughts on the Kimber listed for sale?
I am not aware of any bad years in particular.

My observation in general is Kimber makes pretty good guns. I had a Warrior years ago that was flawless aside from having a weak finish. The finish never chipped like other owners complained about but it just didn't seem as tough as it could have been.

The biggest issue was people comparing them to Colt. While I don't know any specific numbers I don't think their failure rates were much different. But ones a Colt so fanbois forgive those issues. A Kimber has an issue and they are the worst manufacturer ever.

Keep in mind too that Kimber is making ten times as many guns as Colt. Add in the fact that you only hear about the issues so you hear about Kimbers all the time (or did until every manufacturer out there started making a 1911).

I didn't have much faith in the Kimber magazines though. They never failed but I added a few Wilson Combats to the rotation just because I felt more confident with them.

TL;DR Kimber makes a decent gun (for being a 1911). If you like it go for it.
