Probably will buy a Dewey rod one piece.

They have a 6.5” brass with handle but that seems it would be short on a 6” barrel.

Let’s see what else they sell.

The craftmanship and bluing from those days is something to be admired.

Add a scope mount, laser grip, and light rail and you'll be in business!

Congratulations! Saw a second gen 357 nickel Colt SA in Mason yesterday in 357 but the price was a bit steep for me.

I'd say you got a very nice looking revolver but how you did would depend on what you paid and on exactly what model and which version of the model it is that you got yourself. The model called the 'Colt 357 Mag' (aka: the Colt 357) was produced from 1953 to 1961 according to my two sources and there are at least two versions of it. The Colt 357 though was not the first Colt double action revolver chambered for the 357 magnum cartridge.

The first double action 357 by Colt was out years before. The New Service Model, manufactured from 1898 - 1942, was available in 357 magnum and was a double action revolver that was manufactured sometime within that time frame (the 357 version, of course, would have been available only after the creation of the 357 Magnum round which I think was in the mid 1930s). However, the New Service model was discontinued during WWII and its successor essentially was the Colt Model 357 Mag.

Here is a link to some history on the Model 357 Mag: http://www.coltfever.com/The_357_Model.html This historical source also shows the New Service model was a double action Colt revolver that preceded the Colt 357 model.

You can go to the Colt website here: https://www.colt.com/serial-lookup and run the serial number to determine all of the models with that number and to determine the year of production for your specific revolver.

A little advice. Be very careful with this revolver. Original replacement parts are hard to come by. Colt seems to hog all of the parts so they can do the repairs.
As another guy mentioned earlier, examine this pistol closely when you clean it. The fit and finish of these older handguns is incredible. All hand fit and finish.
