My friend died a month ago and I’m selling some of his guns for his wife.
What is this nickel plated 1911 worth?
The nickel plating and polishing seems overdone and heavy handed.
The serial number indicates a Remington Rand and the slide is an early Colt.
    What do you think?

Yeah unfortunately that's a bad job with the prep being the pitfall from what I can see and I can see the reflection of the foam and took that into consideration but the gun is a cool piece regardless.
With wood grips missing and the nickel treatment No less than $1000 someone would pay more but I don't now how much.

    Thanks for the replies.
Those pictures were a bit muddy and not good enough.
    New pictures.

The heavy handed polishing has nearly removed the words “US GOVERNMENT PROPERTY “ and a hallmark or two from the frame.
It does look like a shooter.

I’m selling to friends at the club and on consignment at the local gun shop. I don’t want strangers coming to the door.
