Had the itch for a new custom hunting knife. Originally I was going to go with a Loveless drop point, unfortunately the billet I bought isn't long enough for a full tang. Instead I'll be going with a hidden tang design like the one pictured. The steel is 15n20/1084 a 9000 layer feather damascus and the wood will either be cottonwood or karilan birtch.

This knife design looks to be very useful, blade length will be around 5", that's longer than what I want in a hunter type but i want to use as much of the steel as i can, pinching the blade while processing will overcome the length. What do ya'll think?

My first hidden tang knives are close to being ready to finish. I'm looking forward to it with excitement and dread...

Sounds like you're doing stock removal on the blade?
