All jokes aside it blows my mind if this actually did happen. Complacency? Ignorance?
A couple of the gun shows I have gone to require, at the door, and at all vendor locations, that handguns are required to have a tie wrap thru them at all times. Just say-in.
A 6 next to the Shamrock Coffee vendor. You know I'm wide awake! Lol..........
Promoters are not checking the Vendors guns on their tables, vendors are not checking their own guns. If I was running the show I'd hire 2-3 people just to walk around and cut the ties off guns & check the chambers of every used gun in the show. ND's are usually associated with used firearms on non-FFL vendors tables. Almost every ND I've witnessed was from a used firearm and it was associated with a non FFL holder, a private individual set up as a vendor at a gun show... In the last 20 years I've witnessed easily 10 ND's and one of them involved a off duty police officer at the Tulsa Wanamacher Show. That bullet got a innocent bystander in the femur bone and he went to the floor.
This was a very unfortunate situation for everyone. I'm just glad no one was seriously injured. There was a emergency room paramedic in attendance at the show and he was on the scene immediately and assured everyone there was no serious injury, he did what he was trained to do and waited there with the 18 yr old for the ambulance paramedics to arrive.
good habit to have, more people need to do it
The promoters at the few shows where I have had a table took my word for it that my guns were unloaded. Of couse, the zip ties through the actions (which the promoter at only one of the shows went around to check) kind of made it obvious. I don't understand why a promoter would not require all actions to be zip tied or the firearms in some other way incapacitated from firing in the event it could not be zip tied through the action. I also do not understand why not all vendors secure them in such a manner.Had nothing to do with it? They allowed the vendor to check his own guns, and I assume they just took his word for it?
Yeah, that worked out great.

Odd that there are no news stories about this
