Like a caller on the Jeff Ward show said we might see more of this as the wacky people that are out there are fed up with the government.

I was on my first break when 590 klbj interrupted with reports of a plane hitting a building. My first thought was terrorism. Interesting they first reported that the hanger was in Round Rock and the plane was stolen thats when I got a lump in my throat.. Then they reported it was Georgetown. Whew!

Yes, he paid with all he had to get the World's attention. The people and groups he was aiming at will not hear the message. The only message they hear is their own.

We who are alive and not willing to die needlessly for a princible have a WEAPON which we will use in this year's elections and that of 2012 at the polls !!! It's clean
Washington's halls of liberals, socialists, obama czars, nutcases & hippies !!! obama gets his in the 2012 elections.. GOD Bless America BO (before obama)....

Yeah, faher-in-law is PISSED, he checked with the IRS and they are supposed to mail him his check on the 19th...I told him it was coming out of the Austin office right after this happened, he called me when the news was on, and I KNEW what he was calling about, it was so hard not to start laughing...while he's bitching up a blue streak about his check getting blown up.

I dunno I read the entire post from the guy. I was hoping it went somewhere, It didn't. BTW, anybody know if he owned that airplane? Just wondering how down on his luck a guy with an airplane can be. BUT like country_boy said: "...I got a lump in my throat...". I was across town here in SA when I heard it and turned around hauling a$$ to get home until I heard from a friend of mine that is an SAPD officer it wasn't a terrorist attack. Running through my mind was: "An IRS building in Austin Tx? Does Al Qaeda really think that's going to piss too many people off? Apparently they don't pay U.S. taxes!"

Joking aside some innocent person doing a job because they got paid for it and needed to support at least themselves if not others died today because some other person flipped out. No preparation in the world will save you from that scenario.

I think 590 KLBJ's website saw more traffic yesterday than it ever has!

I was listening to Jeff Ward yesterday and sure enough, a caller goes off with, "But look how much damage a small plane can cause! I mean, ANYBODY can fly one of these things ANYWHERE they want! That scares me, Jeff! There should be more controls and background checks and blablablbablabla..."

First of all, that's called FREEDOM. Second of all, it just sounded like the same argument people use about guns, and I was so disgusted I was yelling at my dashboard. If planes were banned, the guy would have used a gun. Ban guns, he'll use a car or rent a U-Haul. Idiot caller.

There had been some discussion as to whether or not he had extra fuel with him in the plane. A plane like that supposedly only holds 40 gallons of fuel which shouldn't have caused all the fire that it did. Has anyone heard if anything came out of the investigation into this?

As to his suicide blog, I don't think he sounded insane. Just very pissed off. There is only so far that a man can be pushed before he pushes back. It's sad that an innocent person had to die for another's statement against the establishment but I can't say I'm surprised that someone attacked the IRS. There are probably a lot of people out there who had been dreaming about it for a long time.

    Sad.

Read all the comments on Joe Stack's kamikaze attack on the IRS....Here and in the Fort Worth Star Telegram, San Angelo Standard Times....Generally conservatives feel that he took all he could of his situation and decided to get the world's attention at his and other victims expense as well as the damage to the building and that his thinking was tragic and a sad, last resort but shouldn't have occured.

The liberals call him insane, crazy, another Timothy McVeigh, no doubt a Tea Party proponent, an extreme right winger, on and on, as nauseum.

When actually his life and the people he injured and the property he damaged did absolutely nothing to remedy the problems he faced or thought he faced and brought immense sorrow to his friends and family, cost the State of Texas untold dollars and failed to eliminate the IRS which he hated. It also proved that Big Government is crash proof and the only way we can change anything is at the polls, and we are damn sure going to try to do that this year and in 2012 !!!!!

As a left-leaning open-minded moderate I don't believe any of that... pretty broad judgement to make on people, don't you think?

We'll see. There aren't any strong conservative candidates to compete with Obama's charisma and before you go and claim Sarah Palin will save the day for conservatives consider first exactly what you think would happen in a debate between Palin and Obama.

Heard the news on the freeway. At first I thought it could be a student pilot then found out later he went directly to the crash site on purpose. What a jerk to ruin a perfectly good airplane.

    Guy popped his top.

Actually, he was very calculating in his plan. This is an MP3 of the ATC comms from Joe Stack’s final flight yesterday out of Georgetown. It is chilling how calm and collected he is, considering he is about to kamikaze his plane into the IRS offices.

He knew exactly what he was doing, this wasn't a fit of spontaneous anger but a premeditated and deliberate act. Now his family has to suffer the consequences...no home, no life insurance, and mopping up from this tragedy. The man was no hero or martyr, just an idiot who felt he didn't have to pay taxes like the rest of us...there are other ways of non-violent protest that don't involve taking the lives of your own family or others...

I dont want to turn this thread into a political rant, but there is no validity to this statement. Plenty of strong conservatives. I am not a huge Palin fan and doubt she will ever get the Republican nomination. That having been said there are plenty of others to give Obama a run....and he won't be able to rely on his charisma this time, he will have to account for his dismal record in the White House, along with budget numbers that would make the most care-free tax and spend politician cringe.
