When my safe was attacked and the locksmith had to drill it open, these, according to him, were the only "gun safes" commercially available that were actual "safes".
(I know you know this, but) Virtually all "gun safes" are RSCs, Residential Security Containers. The quoted section from another forum, starting back at post 33, went into this in some detail. It has one minor, perhaps transient, error in it; it names three safe manufacturers and says everybody else only makes RSCs. AFAIK, there have been a couple of real safes available from the RSC makers, the common "gun safe" brands everybody knows. I don't know if they still offer them.

A real safe with real fire protection for your guns is ridiculously heavy, very large, and ungodly expensive.

Note about that "very large" statement - Note that Graffunder's biggest, highest rated safe takes up 60 cubic feet but only has 37 cubic feet of interior room. That's the sort of ratio that tells you the walls are thick enough to provide real protection if they're designed properly.

Personally, I find some of the newer breed "safe" makers refreshing. They come right out and say "We're just a Residential Security Container. Why pay for a safe when you're not really getting a real safe? Our product is far less expensive but provides the protection you actually need. Just bolt it down properly and accept that if your house burns to the ground, everything in it will be a loss."

We even had a thread on that a while back.

I got a really good deal on a Liberty Fat Boy Jr on offerup. About 600 off retail and the safe was mint. Not a scratch etc. $200ish to move it and Ive been super happy with it. But always check offer up app. Its been quite good on safes.

I just recently purchased a Winchester 12 gun safe and I absolutely love it, however I don’t think there is any way I could possibly fit 12 full sized guns inside of it. Maybe 12 river .22’s:laughing::laughing:. Also there’s a shelf that’s supposed to go in the top of it but my a400 extreme plus with a 28” barrel on it sits about 3” from the top of the safe so I have to break it down so I can put my accessories in the top of the safe. Overall the quality of the safe is really nice I just wish it was a little taller so the shelf would fit with longer guns.

I just added a Liberty Fatboy. The dealer service was great. They delivered from 80 miles away, brought it in, set everything up and made sure I was happy.

Most burn ratings are just that.. ratings on a label.
There are plenty of videos of gun safes being opened after being in a house fire with a “90 minute” rating, the guns are all there inside, but in many cases badly damaged from the heat.
