Well, went out and sighted my new 30.06 Remmy 700 and scope yesterday. On target at 100 yds after boresighting, low and to the right. Adjustment and it was good. Went to 200 yds, and pretty much on the money. I know the scope was anyway. This was my first time shooting using a scope. It seems to add to the need for technique, and not just replace fixed sights. I could actually have done better with fixed sights at 100 yds than I did with the scope. I didn't realize that it was that much different.

Although, at my age, it sure makes the target clearer.

Oh well, just means practice is needed.

What a drag that I will have to go regularly for a while and practice with the thing. ;)

EDIT: Oops, wrong thread, meant to put in Rifles.

Iron sights are a necessary skill to master but scopes sure make it easier. All shooters should be comfortable with both.

    Enjoy.
