Looks sorta like how my old Marlin cowboy gun printed. Each shot was just a wee bit higher and left than its predecessor. After doing a bit of research the prevalent theory was with each shot the weight of the ammo in the tubular magazine differed enough to change the point of impact a little. Not sure that was right but it sounded plausible. I coulda done the math on it myself but I couldnt find my slide rule.

I shot out the barrel on my Savage .308 so I bought a new take-off barrel and installed it. Both 20" fluted but my old one was a 11.25 twist, this one is 10. 100 yards 4th 5 round group through the barrel looking for pressure as I go up .5gn powder each time.

The program I was using is "enlarging" the holes so maybe it should be a little tighter.

Bigwheel - just single loaded and set on sandbag with shoulder and left hand on the stock. Yes tube mags do get the vertical but from the weight of the tube varying the harmonics of the barrel as it is not free floated. Mostly the high drop stock so recoil makes the barrel jump. They are fun.

Looks much better than my old thutty thutty used to to do. Smart thinking on getting things balanced out to give it a fair test. Now trying to think what Savage .308 comes with atubular magazine. I best go do some googling. My neighbor had a lever Savage in .250-3000 but it fed a few rounds from below I think.
