I know every family situation is different, and some estates can be complicated to resolve, but I'm looking for a ballpark guess as to what it would cost to probate a fairly simple estate. My Dad passed away late last month, and we found that he left a will. There are two heirs, my sister and I, and we both live in the same county the will was written in. He didn't owe any money (car payments, mortgage, etc.) and his accounts are all in local banks. Seems like it should be a fairly straightforward job, so I don't expect to need a celebrity lawyer to handle this. He named me the executor of the estate, so I'll be looking for an attorney and am hoping for some idea as to what would be a typical range of fees.

My wife charges $800, but we live in a small town. She says most Attorneys will charge between $1200 and $1500.
