Off on a tangent - From the NY Times original source:

Mr. Haig’s whereabouts was unknown and he could not be reached for comment.

Does anyone else have a problem with the way that sentence sounds? OED says that "whereabouts" can be singular or plural. Other sources show it to be exclusively plural. Either way, my ears cry at "whereabouts was unknown."

Maybe it's just me.

I don't think he had any role in it and neither does his lawyer, otherwise he would be in a cell right now. False flag!
