My brother has an Arisaka that he's working on right now.
I'll ask him where he'll be getting the ammo for it when he's done. I know he's already looked into it.

I'll probably have an answer for you sometime tomorrow.
I'll PM you and post it on here, in case anyone else is looking.

Also - last time I was at McBrides in Austin, I believe I saw a few boxes for about forty bucks.

You may want to give Randy over at west texas military surplus a call (around 34th and university). I don't know if he has any on hand, but he could tell you exactly where to find it.
I highly doubt that theres any surplus lying around anywhere, it may wind up being a choice of reloading or buying Hornady.

This place had a bunch of Jap rounds. They were like $1.00 each. Tex-Guns ::: Texas Licensed FFL Dealer I don't know if they ship or not.

I bought a bag of their 6.5 Jap and 15 of the 20 did NOT fire. I got full solid strikes on the primers but the primers did NOT go off. But all of their Jap ammo i saw were reloads to, so maybe that got a bad box of primers.

Other than that i have never had a problem with the store or anything else i bought there. The also had so hard to find dies and other hard to find ammo that i got from them.

This is one of the reasons I passed on buying an Arisaka. I really wish I had bought it now though.

Best of luck finding your ammo, let us know where you got it and how much you paid!

You can make your own brass from .30-06 brass if you do such things.
you can also have a smith re-barrel the rifle in .308 pretty easily, he'd just have to make a barrel as everything else 'just works' usually.

Re: I have the trial version of Office 2007 and a product key. Where do I enter it?

How do I get the software Windows 7 X64 downloaded on my computer Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 so that I can actually use my product key without having Office Professional 2007 Key to rebuy it?
...what the shit is this crap doing in our forum!?

Believe it or not, my brother told me that it's on Cabelas.com. I just checked, and he is correct.
They have it from both Hornady for about 25 dollars, and from Norma for about 38 dollars.
They both appear to be on backorder at the moment. But at least they offer it.

    Hope this helps out.

Much easier and cheaper to form 7.7x58 from .30/06, as pointed out, than rebarrel the rifle. Handloading has its own rewards, as well.
A for the 6.5 not firing, headspace problems are more likely than bad primers...Either the rifle has excessive headspace, or the handlepullin' monkey that loaded it set the shoulder back too far.
