I would sport my shoulder rig. Now I wear a vest over it

From someone living in a state (Nevada) that allows OC, I can give you examples of LEOs sometimes being dicks. Some "confrontations" have been on Las Vegas Boulevard South (the Strip) where all the major casinos are located. Those were resolved with letters to then sheriff Gillespie and he straightened the troops out. A major band of LEO dicks have been in North Las Vegas and Boulder City. Their respective police departments hassled those who open carried in their cities, stating that their city laws trumped state law, for about 4 years until we got rid of the pussy governor, Guinn. Then the matter was resolved with a few more "incidents" added to the legal wrangling.

I have no doubts that if the OC bill in Texas becomes law, ya'll will see plenty of instances like we had in North Las Vegas and Boulder City .... and those instances will, most likely, end up in some court somewhere. You will have the hard core "NO ONE is going to open carry in my town" types of LEOs but they'll end up, after lawsuits, following the open carry law.

That's how I see it going down as well.

At least I will have the option to OC, although my only likely change might be going to an OWB holster, even though I will 99% of the time
still be covering with my square bottom shirts.

I like the option of owb. Around the ranch and in other states ive always carried owb when i felt i was safeish. In places i was unsure i always carried iwb. I know it sounds weird. But id rather not have someone know i was carrying in a shady part of town vs people i was used to seeing. Its kind of like a comfort thing with like minded people/atmospheres

I suspect that more businesses will post 30.06.
In Mississipi when open carry was clarified( it was always legal) no gun signs sprouted up like mushrooms all over. ( MS only requires a gunbuster sign)

I suspect the same will happen here( not gunbuster signs but more 30.06 signs)

I use OWB holster now and square tail shirts. If OC passes ill probably do the same, just leave the shirt unbuttoned.

Raining on the parade but you have a point.

I suppose ill try to see the good in it. Target doesnt want me in there with a gun, ill go to Wal-Mart. Now if HEB posts I wont be happy.

I think for most it will just be s switch to "relaxed carry" or "comfortable carry".
'zactly right. I hate schlepping up hills with a gun digging for gold. I'd much rather have that thang outside than in when doing things that require a range of movement.
Other than that I'd be just as happy not to worry about inadvertent showing getting me in potential hot water. These Austin cops are problematic in my experience when it comes to firearms - thanks to Ass-evedo.

I don't like the idea of advertising, no reason to be the first target from a bad guy. I do like the idea of not getting nailed for an accidental peek, or needed adjustment in public.
I think this is an overrated fear. Most bad guys are opportunistic cowards preying on the weak. We KNOW they pick spots where guns are restricted. They see someone carrying in a public park I'd bet money their thought will not be "take him out first" but rather - "I'd rather not take on folks with guns".
I mean we talk about "an armed society is a polite society" - time to walk the talk.

Won't change how I carry much but that's not the point of supporting OC anyway. Any right regained is good in my book whether or not I use it.

I'll still carry OWB under a long, untucked dress shirt. I might OC once in a while during an OC BBQ...

I have my CHL and will still carry concealed. Carrying a 1911 in a shoulder holster has always been a special interest so I may try that.

The best thing about this law is not needing to be concerned about accidental peeks at the hardware. That will be a major plus!

I know for sure that there is a HUGE number of the population that are unaware of these topics and if the law passes and we are granted our rights back there will be an unprecedented number of problems and 911 calls all over the major cities in Texas.
