I didn’t mean to imply you made the story up.

I was pointing out that people on the internet start lighting torches and grabbing pitch forks with half a story.

The comment was not directed specifically towards you.

Anyone want some hot tar? Free feathers with every purchase.

I had something like this happen before. Luckily, it wasn't an inconvenience for me since I was passing through that area anyways. I made a deal with a guy and was going to buy a bayonet off of him. He just randomly ghosted me right before the meet up. Never heard from him again. It's weird, but it does apparently happen.

Guess I'm lucky, ghosted a time or two but before I made a long drive. Lot of flakes and crazies in this old world.

Same thing for me. We arranged meeting at safe place (sheriff office) and he was no show even though he said he was police.

Be VERY careful w/that one - several years back, we had a guy out of the Austin area that was buying firearms w/hot checks because "he couldn't get to an ATM" because he was working so many hours as an LEO. He made a run at one I had listed - thankfully, my "scam sensors" went into overdrive, and I declined. I found out later that day he'd done that w/another seller, so we set him up and got him busted by NBPD. I wouldn't be surprised if he's back at it.

Gotta be careful....I recently met a guy who wanted to buy the pistol I advertised on TGT. When we met, he appeared well-mannered, knowledgeable, and made a fair offer paid with cash. Then we parted on amicable terms with no disagreement or hard feelings at all.....

...after thinking about it, he didn't seem in any way like a TGT member at all. I think I got scammed!
