One of my best friends is a senior driller. IIRC Gabon was the worse place he ever worked. I can't remember were he was were the pirates were always trying to take over rigs, but he was on a drill vessel. He has no love for West Africa either.

Gabon was pretty bad, but the worst place I ever saw in my 21 years of globe trotting was Sierra Leone. I saw things there that I couldn't believe existed in the 21st century.

He also once mentioned working in the Black Sea. He told how these local women got hired on as cooks & house cleaning. From there some of the guys had their own personal hookers. Egypt was another placed he hated.

For him now its gotten to the point's ready to bail on the company. Now he is out from under child support & hoping for some property he owns to sell. I have the feeling 59.5 will see him change direction.
