Ok. I picked up a used Marlin model 60 for $70. It has the older long barrel with the newer 14 rd mag so I'm guessing it's about mid 90's. The price sure was right. They have a reputation for being accurate and it's an American gun so I'm happy. Thanks for the advice!

I think the henry lever would make a good one. tube fed and simple . JMHO

I thought about a lever action but I think they might be a more complicated action than a simple semi auto

I've got an old tube-fed Marlin from my uncle that has been a ranch gun all of it's life. It's reasonably tough.
