Been Called "Flash" Since I Was A Kid!
It's amazing how history repeats itself while our "rulers" completely ignore lessons learned in the past.
Been doing some research into the Volstead Act (Alcoholic Beverage Prohibition) and there are remarkable similarities between recent Liberal/Progressive/Socialist activities and the actions that brought the Volstead Act to life.
Prohibition of alcoholic beverages was brought into play by:
Preachers yelling and thumping Bibles while declaring that misuse of alcohol was the work of the Devil. Booze was unholy! Gun control proponents use this one every day!
Mommies marched, sat in, blocked businesses and the most notable, Carrie Nation, actually took a hatchet and smashed saloons. They got loud, obnoxious and applied economic pressure to disrupt businesses. (Wonder how Bloomberg's Mommies developed their tactics? Here it is!)
Of course, it was all about "The Kids!
Alcohol was demonized in propaganda media. Some of the most interesting showed an average man who took a single drink and immediately, cheated on his wife, drank the family into poverty and beat his wife and kids. The productions were of the most inflammatory nature and stretched the truth completely out of shape. We've seen that recently, with demonizing firearms and all who use them.
Politicians sold their influence shamelessly and the Volstead (Prohibition) Act was passed and finally ratified by the states on a trail of slime in 1919-1920.
Results of the new law had many unintended consequences. See if you recognize the tactics and predict the same results with gun control:
Alcohol consumption increased dramatically.
Organized crime got its foothold in American society from bootlegging.
Alcohol was once the source of approximately 25% of all government tax income. That money now went to the bootleggers and smugglers.
Murders changed the balance of power in the mobs and open warfare came to the streets of cities and towns.
Graft and corruption formed political machines within cities and it remains today. Obama was groomed in the political machine of Illinois and Chicago. The Governor of Illinois was sentenced to prison for SELLING the vacated Senate seat of Barack Obama. I was born and raised in Chicago and can attest to the extent of graft and corruption in the city. It all began with Prohibition!
Millions of Americans became criminals because of the Volstead Act. Wide open violation of the law became usual and normal.
The negative results of Prohibition were so outrageous that the Twenty First Amendment of the Bill of Rights was passed in Congress and finally ratified by the states in 1933. Unfortunately, organized crime still prospers, graft and corruption in government is the norm and the idea that "Money buys justice" still prevails. It all started with Prohibition!
The tactics of Obama, Bloomberg, Feinstein and other Liberal, Progressive, Socialists were born in the formation of the Volstead Act of 1919-1920. Their goal is to PROHIBIT private ownership of firearms, shame those who currently use them and to set up controls over people who once had Constitutionally Guaranteed RIGHTS!
If successful in making private ownership of firearms illegal, Liberals will also bring in a new wave of graft, corruption, smuggling, "bootlegging", murderous control of business, wholesale disobedience of the citizens.
Unfortunately, confiscation of privately owned firearms may also precipitate a second Civil war!
