I'm thinking of making my first range trip in Texas. Looks like Dietz is closest. Anyone know what time would be best to go there to avoid waiting or big crowds (if either exist there)? Either Saturday or Sunday. Anyone nearby that would care to show a transplant around? :D

Interested here, too. I haven't been to Dietz in a dog's age and I wonder what it's like nowadays.

Nothing has changed for years. The only thing a little different about it is the pistol range. Whichever shooter stands closest to their target sets the shooting distance. I have nothing but good things to say about their staff.

I noticed that Cedar Ridge is about the same distance from me. Anyone been to both that could pick one over the other??

Wow? Is that place still open? I used to shoot back there in the 90's when I was going to college.

Not kidding, I had a cow wander onto the pistol range once. When I tried to chase it off the range it got so spooked that it went OVER the berm. Didn't even have a gun in my hand. Stupid cow.

Been to Cedar Ridge once. Haven't been back. Nothing major wrong, just something about it that I didn't care for, and can't even put my finger on it, so you likely should visit and judge for yourself.

I live pretty close to dietz. I've never really had a problem with crowds. I notice folks will stop by shoot 50 or 100 rounds at the hand gun range and then leave. The folks who run dietz are top notch and have always been very friendly and helpful.
