It would be 3/4 of a gallon...

Y = X +.5X
Y = 1/2 + .5*1/2
Y = 1/2 + 1/4
Y = 3/4

For it to be a gallon it would need to be 100% more than a 1/2 gal

The "Retro Encabulator" is almost word-for-word the same as the original "Turbo Encabulator". I just found the "Hyper Encabulator" today. I love technobabble when it's done right. Probably a result of watching a lot of Star Trek growing up.
