As recent as the 90s the ER I worked at had cocaine drops thet were used to help stop nose bleeds that were difficult to stop. Kinda surprised the first time I saw it in the narcotics box.

Narcotics are counted and witnessed by two people at each shift change which would make that impossible. The cocaine was in flake form and sterile water was added just before it was used. Any that was not used was, "wasted" which was documented and witnessed. To put it plainly, no fun was had by anyone except the patient.How many you stick in your pocket
