Not "the big banks", the small businesses passing along their credit card fees that most businesses cover as normal cost of doing business. Equipment rental place my son uses does this, imagine what the credit card pass through fee is on a D -9 rental for a month.

Ultimately it is the big banks.

I would just eat 4.5% out of my profits just to pay the bank charges. It would be recovered one way or another, typically in the price of goods or services.

It's why I had a minimum credit card purchase in my bar, the profit on a couple beers wouldn't cover the transaction fee. For many small businesses the margin is very small as well, especially food and beverage.
