I’m guessing it has something to do with light gathering capability for the fiber optic material.

Same on mine. I didn't notice it until you mentioned it tho. Small serrations visible on the back and definitely slanted. Pardon the leather chafe.I just received my SA Ronin Operator with FO front sights. They were the same way.

I was just going to say to make it easier to get in a holster.I agree with the light-gathering function. Also, it likely makes holstering a little easier.
