Thought about it. They're supposed to be mounted far forward on the rail to do a proper C clamp. I was never fond of the C clamp, rather more of a half C clamp, but I recently picked it up after moving the pressure switch to the top rail.

True. I have mine all the way forward, flush with the hand guard.
