if you own an A1/A2 AR15, brownells makes a 4x32 scope>
I recall way back, seeing quite a few "fixed power" scope sights, most of 4X or less. Popular were 2X, 2.5X through 4X.
Zeiss had some really nice ones. Redfield & Weaver, too.
Does anyone here have info own where to find one now ?

I'm using a couple of them in 12× out to 600+ yds.
They're consistent and reliable.
A handgun scope? You'll need to mount pretty it far forward... Those can be fun setups.Burris UPC #: 000381002297

You first need to figure out which eye relief you need. Regular, scout (extended eye relief), and handgun are all different.Like a "Scout Rifle". Carbine would be used at ranges 125M and lower. I'm asking, b/c I'm no "expert" on this, by-far.
I too would like a 4X or 6X for a 10/22 project just to keep it simple and to keep the cost down.
