AS LONG AS THE GOVERNMENT KEEPS PUSHIN FOR A CARBON-FREE FOOTPRINT BY 2050 THE MANUFACTERSARE GOING TO WORK WITH ALTERNATEENERGY SOURCES!
    Thanks to Biden:
The final rule, which begins in earnest in 2027, demands that automakers quickly amp up production of electric vehicles. By 2032, the emissions standards dictate that roughly 70% of new vehicle sales be battery-powered electric or hybrids.

(Reuters) – Tesla has canceled the long-promised inexpensive car that investors have been counting on to drive its growth into a mass-market automaker, according to three sources familiar with the matter and company messages seen by Reuters.

The automaker will continue developing self-driving robotaxis on the same small-vehicle platform, the sources said.

The decision represents an abandonment of a longstanding goal that Tesla chief Elon Musk has often characterized as its primary mission: affordable electric cars for the masses. His first “master plan”, opens new tab for the company in 2006 called for manufacturing luxury models first, then using the profits to finance a “low cost family car.”

    Stick a fork in it.
Pretty much the only hope for going mainstream.

No, not zero emissions. Where does the electricity come from to charge them? It ain't all wind power.
As I understand it, creates more smog and pollution building the car than a gas car would make going half the miles the electric car.
NOW, when you spend your $20,000.00 to replace your necessary batteries, where are they going to put your used batteries?

    Probably send it to China.

We just got back from Europe, where the EV market has already crashed.

Does anyone else here recall that the entire “Human-caused Global Warming” concept arose from a soon-exposed British data error, then was adopted as a policy-driver SCAM by the WEF when the old Soviet Union collapsed in the early 1990’s ?

Tesla's first quarter net profit was just reported. It skidded -55%. Hell of a skid mark in Elon's shorts.

"CEO Elon Musk announced, in a conference call with analysts, they will increase production of the affordable models on new generation underpinnings to start the second quarter of next year".

If I'm not mistaken, electric cars have their batteries under the belly of the car.
I follow a guy on youtube called Michael Pfeffer, he has a mechanics shop in Michigan. You would not believe the rusted out frames and bodies of some of the cars that come in his shop, I'm talking 5 and 6 year old cars with rusted out unibodies.
Imagine what those cars with batteries under them will look like after one winter running around in all that snow and salt.

Ford said last year that they expect their EV’s to be profitable by 2026. Not sure how realistic that may or may not be, but if it’s even somewhat close, they will be far ahead of Tesla in that sense. I still won’t buy one, but time will tell if this is really a problem for ford.
