A member of my church is in a tough situation. Short story is her ex husband got custody of their two huge mastiff dogs and mistreated them to the point that they're extremely destructive and aggressive at all times. She needs to get rid of them but doesn't know how. I referred her to the humane society but I'm not sure they deal with that sort of thing until someone is hurt, etc. She said she's fine if somebody puts them down but doesn't know what to do with two huge dead dogs. Any suggestions from y'all?

My friend had one mean dog that bit a kid and he took it to the Vet and had it put to sleep. I have no idea about the cost.

Has she tried local rescue groups? They have rehab programs that they attempt for the dogs, but then handle them in the necessary manner or humane way should they deem it not possible...I'm sure it hurts her to have to put the dogs down, so maybe she can try one other alternative:
    Surrendering a Mastiff

There's numerous groups like this. I just googled Mastiff Rescue and Mastiff Shelter

Maybe before the dogs go in for rehab, the ex-husband could spend some quality time with them in a cage!!
