For me, I see the red banner with black letters (incomprehensible as noted above) when I’m typing/authoring a post and another post is made (while I’m still typing) to the thread I’m in

Okay, here's the deal. It may have changed, as I remember the whole banner in red, so you could read none of it. Here's one example, which is slightly better...
