saw this in mens fitness june/july 2010 (wish i had a scanner)
need:
steaks approx 1.75"
3/4 cup olive oil
10 jalapeno peppers
10 garlic cloves sliced thin
3/4 cup cilantro
on an even level of coals (leave the front 1/3 of the grill free of coals) when coals are orange, fan them to blow off any ash.
season steaks w salt n pepper, then place steake directly on the coals
4-6 minutes for med rare.
lift steaks out of coals and gently shake to dislodge any embers.
remove loose ash with basting brush, cover while preparing sauce.
heat the olive oil in a cast iron skillet, when hot add jals, garlic, and cilantro. cook on high till jals and garlic begin to brown, 2 mins or so. pour sauce over steaks.
