Boiled linseed oil repair

Had a leather cheek rest on it and decided to remove for a different option. Hurt my heart when I removed it and saw it leached the BLO from the stock. Do I need to strip it down and start over or will it blend in if I just apply oil in the areas it’s missing?

I'm not an expert, but I would think that if you try to "patch" it with oil, it's still going to be noticeable. Personally, I would strip it and re-stain the whole stock.

I have a rifle that I finished with Linseed oil in the early 90's. The stock was recently scraped pretty badly by someone who did not know what they were doing which is another story. I just reapplied Linseed oil over the course of a few weeks and there is absolutely no evidence of a scrape or repair. I will try to dig up a pic of the after and post it here shortly.

It wouldn't hurt to try reapplying Linseed oil.

Re applied it to the whole stock or just the scraped areas? Gives me some hope.
