Friends of ours, a few miles away, are on a well (>40') and their water at the faucet seems to come out clear but when the bathtub is filled (they showed us) it has a definite pale light blue tint.

They also said that standing water (in an otherwise clean area) develops a nasty clear slime that clings to the bottom and sides of the container, after a few days.

They never had it tested. They drink either bottled water or their well water filtered through a Berkey type setup - but I'm not sure that filtering would be enough for me to drink it...

    Any ideas what's going on?

Do you know if they get the slime build up on their Berkey type filter?
I asked her about that. She said yeah sometimes, and they go through a lot of filters. I quit asking after that, didn't push it, their business.

Out here its black from lignite.
I'm wondering if the blue is from Iron... or copper maybe?

According to some websites, it can be a sign of copper corrosion.

    And then there is this:

Although quite rare, green or blue water may either be the result of algal growth or extreme copper corrosion.

It’s best to avoid drinking green or blue water.
