Bloomturd's "No More Names" bus coming to Las Vegas

Both parks are in Clark County. Paradise is in Las Vegas and Pebble is in Henderson. There is a lot of hoo-hah right now about open carry (and concealed carry) in county parks, for those considering showing up open carrying to protest Bloomturd's group reading the names of those affected by "gun violence," including the name of one of the Boston marathon bombers. As of 2007, NRS 244.364 was changed prohibiting cities and counties from enacting ordinances more restrictive than state law. Unfortunately, the Clark County parks department doesn't see it that way, nor do some in the police department. It will be interesting to see just how many DO show up open carrying. Depending on where they are in either park, if they're close enough to the entrance some of us here will stand there open carrying (i.e. entrance = NOT in the park). Otherwise, it will be sign carrying rather than weapons. Some have even suggested our "side" reading the names of all those saved by the fact they had a gun to protect themselves.

There IS a bit of confusion concerning the Bloomturd group names reading. They have "time slots" as to when they'll be doing said reading:

It's unclear whether they'll be doing it on an hourly basis or they'll just pick one of those times. That part of their itinerary is rather vague (probably so they can keep the pro-gun crowd at bay).

There wasn't a lot of response to this silliness. On the second day by 11 AM (the "event" was to have started at 10:30) there were some people milling around who were probably the organizers but there was no one else around. I missed the day before because when I went out to my car to head out, the battery was dead (this desert heat is Hell on batteries), but I've seen nothing in the local news about any big or even mediocre response.

Very true. But even the local libiturd rag, The Las Vegas Sun, had NO coverage of this "event." I would have thought that with their socialist leanings, they'd have had massive coverage. But, because there were no chanting crowds (or any crowds at all) they must have deemed it a non-event and ignored it. If this thing goes to the Peoples' Socialist Яepublik of Kalifornia, there will probably be throngs of people around. As pointed out in this article from June:

Missing from all the announcements is a schedule to allow the public to know where the bus is going and when it will be there. There are two conceivable reasons a tour the group obviously and desperately wants to generate publicity for would withhold that information.

The first would be for security reasons, or at least that would be the excuse given if one wanted to portray gun owners who oppose Bloomberg’s self-financed crusade against the right of his countrymen to keep and bear arms as dangerous. If that is the case, it becomes fair to ask if the bus will be accompanied throughout its trip with armed security, or if local police resources will be dragooned (and reimbursed, so that taxpayers opposed to Bloomberg’s schemes won’t be required to help foot his bills).

The second and more likely reason, considering the AstroTurf nature of Bloomberg ventures demonstrated time and again, would be to keep the grassroots from embarrassing his road show by mustering overwhelming support for gun rights and against citizen disarmament, and stealing the spotlight at what were to be carefully-controlled staged events.

What this looks like is calculated willing media exploitation -- get the bus tour on the local news, get a lot of exposure from friendly “Authorized Journalists” on friendly turf to create the impression of widespread grassroots support -- and then move on, doing it in a way to minimize the chances of the opposition having time to mount an effective counter-protest. In other words, it will be a continuation of the M.O. Bloomberg continually employs as to make support for his personal fetish appear much larger and more intense than it is, and to make opposition appear negligible.

There were obviously no Authorized Journalists for them to manipulate here in Las Vegas.
