There's tons of options. Here's a few good options off the top of my had. All these guys are top notch with a well accredited background

Riflesonly in South Texas offers rifle and carbine.

Aaron Roberts offers everything from long range to pistol.

Spartan tactical in fw/jacksboro offers a bit of everything.

Any place that does NOT have the word "tactical" in their name would be a good start. Any place that requires you to wear the Molle gear, with everything under sun attached to it would be a good place to avoid as well.

Fact is, you will most likely ( if you ever do ) have an encounter while you are walking/driving around doing something you enjoy, ( so wearing your every day clothes) or in your home while you are sleeping( bed clothes, or lack there of)

Any of the "operator" schools are fucking worthless. They are a way to separate you from your $$$.

Find someone who trains "real world" and ignore the tactidorks.

And a general all around badass too, from what I've heard.

I'll second the Suarez classes. No bull, no intimidation or denigration of students and not worrying about what a lawyer might say, they give you the tools to win the fight. There isn't the air of machismo or tactical timmy at their classes either. All of the instructors have been professional, polite, and genuinely care about their students. Most fun part of the class are the cool toys they bring to show & let you shoot. The AR pistol John Chambers brought to a class was friggen awesome.

Biggest piece of advice I can give for your training future... take a force on force class. Preferably one that has a strong focus on non-gun work. Not every problem has a gun solution, knowing how to use empty hands or blades is very important, IMO.

Jon Payne may not consider himself a badass but he is an awesome instructor. (And he is kinda a badass too). I had the honor of taking a Suarez Red Dot Combat Pistol course from him this summer and it was better than I ever expected. He has a LTC class if you are just starting out and many more options to choose from as your experience and proficiency increase. I wish I would be able to take his close range gunfighting 2 course next month but my calendar won't allow it. I plan to keep watching the available dates to attend as soon as possible.
