I bought a Beretta Tomcat yesterday. Have not fired it yet. It seems to be in pretty good shape, but I'm a little concerned about the recoil spring. It seems lighter than I'd expect it to be. It's way too easy to rack the slide... I have a Beretta 21 (.22lr version of the same gun) and it's slide is extremely hard to manipulate. I would think the .32's would be just as hard if not harder. Is that true or faulty reasoning?
Assuming someone modified the spring, what would be the benefit? The barrel on these tip up so racking the slide to chamber a round is unnecessary.
Is there a disadvantage to the spring being too soft? Could it hurt the gun?
Should I just shoot the gun and see how it performs or replace the spring first since I have my doubts about it.
