Apparently (per above) they did drop port anchor and got propulsion back but too late. Assume a 60 ft channel, not enough room to do much dragging. At that time, it would only attempt to slow the ship, which can still rotate. I imagine full reverse was REAL noisy! Takes a while to get the props to really reverse.

Dali is propelled by a single low-speed two-stroke crosshead diesel engine coupled to a fixed-pitch propeller. 55kHP engine. So the gotta stop the engine, restart in reverse!! FUN. Ala Merc outboard motors of the '40s. Prop would probably take up a modern 3 car garage. Figure the ft-# at 400 RPM.
