Joshua, when you guys engrave, are you able to cut into the metal?

I had my AR engraved with the word AUTO, but when I went to blue it, as the exposed metal was white, it turned out the engraving only removed the coating.

The bluing then just filled in the coating that was removed, and I could barely see the word AUTO.

It depends on the type of machine. Some laser engravers can only take the surface finish off metal. For NFA the engraving needs to be at least 0.003" deep into the metal. That's only about the thickness of a sheet of paper, but you need the right laser to do it.

We can absolutely cut into the metal. I let it run for about 10 minutes (just a test to see how fast it would cut) a while back and cut completely through a lower.
