The context was that you say that in the initial solicitation of help (i.e. calling 911). The only thing you tell a responding officer is that you invoke your right to remain silent.

Hello, 911? There has been a shooting at location X. You probably wanna send an ambulance. *click* *call your lawyer*
Adding you're the victim and giving a description of yourself is a good idea I think. If the cops roll up looking for a shooter, it's best to be ID'd as the one who called 911 asking for help in case anyone is trigger happy.
I guess what I was told is fairly consistent with that. That is, don't say you shot someone in self defense, say there was a shooting but saying who did the shooting is not necessary.
After drawing it from its belt holster.Wave your phone at them
Probably got angry because the HERO splattered blood all over their jelly donuts.Since they do not recommend that, I'd like to hear what they do recommend? I'd bet none of those recommendations would have prevented this crime.

"A man who walked into a northwest-side gas station with a gun and a mask over his face was shot by a customer who saw him threaten the clerk, police said."
He wore a mask went into the store and pointed a gun at thr clerk
An armed customer in the store shot him cemetery dead
(Moonpie will say "what round for robber?")
The police were not happy about the outcome
Look at the statement by police

Tell them a retired Texas Peace Officer told you to tell them: that you can't carry a cop around in your pocket, so you didn't have another option.
