Just bought this old gal and would like to have some fun with her. Does anyone load black powder or low power loads for their old gal? I would like to try it maybe with brass shells so any guidance would be appreciated.

    Gunz are icky.
    I do.
Brass shot shells are the bomb. LMAO!

You can get brass hulls from MagTech. They use a standard large rifle primer
    Wads from Circle Fly. http://www.circlefly.com/html/bp_cartridges.html
A few simple tools is all you'll need.
The adhesive DUCO can be found at hardware stores or on-line.

Here's a couple of videos that explain it quite well.

The antique tools are pretty easy to find on the E-bay.

Be sure to measure the chamber length.
You can also re-use fired plastic hulls but they burn up/melt.
You'll need one of the antique crimp roller tools if you use paper or plastic hulls.
    Use blackpowder only! Not substitutes.

    Its fun.

I figured I could just look up what chamber they came in. From my limited research it looks like they are 2 5/8". It's a Stevens 235 BTW.

Mr. Orbitup sir, I can probably cut longer shells down for you in a lathe if you need me to.

The Magtech shells are 2 1/2" and my chambers should be 2 5/8". I'm no mathematician or engineer but I think I'm okay. I will hit you up for that if the chambers are shorter. Thanks.

Yep, there will be somebody along to tell you to donate that to a museum or scrap yard.

Nice find Orbitup. Those old black powder guns can be a true labor of love. I can't get enough of them myself.

Beautiful old shotgun. I am really jealous. Not a shotgun guy, but I do really like the old black powder ones.
