I'm a long-time directional driller and recent drilling consultant.
It's obvious we are drilling wells faster than ever before, and more of the drilling side is being automated. Combine the 2 and we are running 1/2 the # of rigs from 3-5 years ago, and there are fewer guys on the rigs.
It doesn't appear to me that completions, fracking and production have really gone through those changes, and likely won't... so I'm thinking of jumping ship, from drilling side to one of the 3 above...but I don't know anyone on that side of the fence. Literally, no one.
If you're a production, completion/fracking/flowback guy, please PM me. I have a bunch of questions. About where you might think the industry is going, changes you've seen, and if my plan (there's a lot more than I'm typing right now) is crazy or not.
Pre-empt: Yes, I've hit facebook groups, but you really can't learn much there, and you never know if the guy responding is a squirrel or idiot- and you can't much gauge it by reading on facebook.
