I have several old rifles, shotguns, and revolvers, that have developed a light surface rust over the years in Pop's closet in the salt air of the Jersey Shore. Anyone have any suggestions? Steel wool, Noxon, Naval Jelly, Baking Soda and beer, etc.? They are all blued, some have minor pitting. TIA

Two quarts of each product-let em soak over night and then used a brillo pad and a sanding pad while the barrels were still wet. I went to ACE Hardware and got a pad and sanding block that said they were for taking rust off metal. Worked like a champ. I would try that if the oil and steel wool don't work. That bath ran me about 50 bucks lol

Sent while trying to concentrate on 6 things at once.

Spray rusted area with Corrosion-X. Let it set a few minutes. You may see it reacting with the rust with some mild bubbling action. Use some 0000 steel wool and LIGHTLY buff the area. The rust will disappear.
