well iw as looking around at diffrent AR uppers, and one caught mny eye, the .458 socom. now i was thinking if they have one for .458, why not amke one in .454?

i imagine there would ahve to be alot of twekaing and whatnot seeing as how (IIRC) the .454 Casull tops out around 60k PSI... and the rims could cause feeding issues... but wouldnt it be a novel gun? (especially when paired with a short barel and a pistol lower) but the quesiton remains, is this even feasible? *shrug* jsut another 2 am thought. i find those amke some of the best threads ;)

let me know what you think

I've thought about the same thing, but not sure what the real point would be. 458 socom is more expensive than .454 casull, but the cost of .450 bushmaster is about the same. Seems like you should just go with a .450 upper and avoid the hassle of designing your own. If you want to do it just for the hell of it, tho then go for it. I'll never discourage someone from doing something when the reason is "just because" lol...

Why not, I've seen ARs chambered in everything else. Why bother with .454 ... go .460 / .500 S&W.

im liking that train fo thought.

and TheDan, yeah, just because is pretty mucht he reasoning behind this.

Recoils about like a 20 guage.
Yep, but only if you shoot those lightweight 349gr bullets:p

I have 500gr hog loads that take it into the 12ga magnum zone. Looking for a loading that approaches my 10ga.:1zhelp:
