As I'm searching for a new expensive gun for precision tactical style shooting. I stumble upon a new caliber that seemed to catch my eye. It was the 6.5x47 lapua. I found the caliber as an optional cartridge for a kws rifle as I was skimming their pages. From what I found from my research about the caliber I found that it is mainly used as a long range target caliber normally 600 yds. I don't have very much ballistic info or energy on the caliber yet and I was wondering if any of yall use or have even heard of that caliber before. I would really like to know is if it would make a good hunting cartridge. From what I have foud is that it has about 3000 fps at the muzzle with a 120gr sierra bullet (don't know which model just know its a sierra). The gut providing this info was reloading using about 39gr of RL 15. and I think his barrel length was 28 inches. please supply all the help youcan including what it might do with a shorter barrel like something closer to 24 inches.
