Classic Firearms put out a new ad today. A couple of the 1911's caught my eye. They aren't the name brands. But, they are very pretty and shiny!

    Taurus 1911 45 acp 5" in Blue:

American Classic 1911 Commander 9 mm 4.25" in shiny stainless:

I want! Especially the American Classic Commander. Not that I can afford them.

For future reference (when I CAN afford one), what do y'all think of the American Classic. Is it total garbage? Or is it ok?

I like the looks of the Commander.
Can't say about quality. Never seen one in person.

Metro Arms the maker of the American Classic Commander model iirc are made in the Philippines. I have sold a couple of them. The fit and finish are nice...a prettier version of the Rock Islands that are also made in the Philippines. The customers that have them have had no complaints.........

The Taurus.....the blue slide is lipstick on a pig AFAIAC.......

Ready for the Taurus folks to flame me...but it is my humble opinion.....

Good to hear about American Classic.

Taurus? I expected as much. But, I have heard that some Taurus critics do actually like the new Taurus TX22. It looks like a lot of fun.

I've been waiting on a Taurus part for the past 5 years now. I'll consider buying another one when I get that part.....maybe.

The American Classic.....it is what it is. There's certainly worse out there (Koff)Taurus(Koff), but the one I range tested several years back stood up quite well to a thousand-round range test. At its' price point, I don't think you'll find better.

Better? Not in my personal opinion. I like the "older" style of blued, stainless, etc. But that's just my personal opinion. I just don't care for the newer finishes such that make a classic gun look like (in my opinion only) a water pistol or BB pistol. Being an old fart :green:, I appreciate the standard finishes. But that's just me. I certainly would not judge what other folks might think attractive. Each to their own!

How many colors do they come in? :green: Can you get one with stripes? :green:

You asked about stripes and colors. So, I gave you what you asked for. That's all.

Personally, I agree with you. I love the stainless steel American Classic. Clean and beautiful.

    Out here by the lake!
I wouldn never judge or buy a gun on looks alone! In my eyes a gun is something you might be defenfending your life & property with. A guns reliability & over quality are what I consider. I seldom will but a gun in its first two years of productions just in case the flaws were not worked out of it.
