Ballistics testing. Hogs are cheaper than ballistics gelatin.

    Results:

.45 ACP FMJ traveled the furthest, we found 4 rounds resting on the chest plate opposite of entry. Penetrated about 1 ft. of hog.

9mm came out of my Glock 19, penetrated through the chest plate, through the ribs, into the lungs, and came to rest between the ribs on the other side. The 9mm was found about an inch beyond the .45 FMJs.

.460 was from a S&W X-Frame and was not found. The bullet fragmented after penetrating the shoulder.

.500 was from a S&W X-Frame and penetrated the same depth as the 9mm round. Expansion was notably larger, as one would expect.

We didn't find the .44 bullet.

.45 ACP JHP failed to expand and penetrated as deep as the rest of the .45 FMJs.

Needless to say, a 9mm penetrating as deep as a .500 S&W and a .45 FMJ ... yeah, I think these are going to work JUST fine. The round expanded to about .50 caliber and stayed intact. I think we were all surprised at the results, we would have thought the big magnums would punch through the backside.
