Question about the interior of this truck.. found this for sale and is exactly what I am looking for, except I want the straight bench seat.

Does anyone have experience with (or knowledge of):

    1. Removing these captains' chairs to replace with a bench?
    2. Where I might find one
    3. If the cab floor bolts and locking mechanisms are even in place to allow for the swap..

Help is greatly appreciated.. opinions & suggestions welcome!

My uncle has a 81' gmc truck, his came with a bench seat and he replaced it with bucket seats. Recently. Said it was easy.

From what Ive heard the bucket seats were an option but, were rare??

I dont know of hand to get them, other than find one at a junk yard and get it reupholstered.

The seats look to me like they are from a 90 to 95 Chevy van.
I would be willen to bet the seat slide bolt holes for the bench seat are fine and are still usable.
Finding a truck that old to take the bench seat out of, my be somewhat hard.
There are not too many junk yards that still have anything that old, and if they do, the seats are most likely shot anyway.

Unrelated to the seats, but check the hell out of the brackets that hold the steering box and spring perches, and surrounding frame areas. They have a nasty habit of cracking and breaking on the '73-'87+ GM K-trucks.
