A friend of mine is trying to find a certain part that goes with the wheel bearing to his 78 ford f150 4x4, or 72 f100 4x4 if there is a major difference in them. (He's rebuilding a 72, but drives a built 78) It's like a cap that goes on the bearing itself, at first thought i thought it was a dust cap. Not it, he says the 4x4s are the only ones who carry this part, and goes together with the wheel bearing. Well more like over it, not sure what its intended purpose is either. I've been trying to find it online for the past hour or so, but no luck, and hard to look for something when you don't even know what you're looking for. lol

    any help appreciated...

it is not integral to the function of the bearing. it really is a dust cap, but is more important than a typical dust cap because it doesn't just cover an axle nut, but the actual bearing assembly.
