I'd compare the .458 Socom recoil with that of a 12 gauge field load. I do NOT like recoil, but it was not excessive.
I load only 300 grain bullets designed for the 45-70 for my own rifles, but I've fired other rifles in .458 Socom from SBR and suppressed form owned by my friends. It's pretty impressive and the hunters around here have dropped hogs and deer. They drop like sacks of rocks!
A non scientific comparison puts the .458 Socom 300 grain and 45-70 300 grain real close in performance.

I would agree with this. I have an 11” 458 Socom SBR that I run a Crux ARK45 can on. Recoil is about like a very stout 20 gauge or a medium 12 gauge.
