So I plan on starting a 308 AR build.

It will be over a few months and I will be details here and there.

    First up...Receiver...

    Thoughts? SI, CMMG, Ma-Ten

It has to use Pmags so no RRA.

Edit its SI not STI sorry...

The Mega integrated forend/upper system is pretty damn cool. If I had money in buckets, I've have one :)

I will pick up a LPK and buffer set up when it arrives.

Going to add a DD 7.62 lite rail rifle length in the near future. Will also pick up a LPK when I grab my receivers.

Now just need to figure out stock and barrel.
I am debating either a Rainer Ultra Match or just grab a Krieger M110. Most likely in the 20" length area.
I am not sure if I want to get the Magpul A-10 stock or do a AR-15 carbine stock

    alright so time to update...

Got the lpk built. I just bought a JP arms hand guard and magpul prs stock. I am just waiting on the barrel to come in stock at rainer so I can get the BCG and barrel.

I visited SWFA today to look at some scopes. right now I am learning towards the Falcon 4-14. It seems to be a good mix of features for the price.

I am also looking into log books. I looked at the storm tactical books and really like the idea of the log book. It appeals to the analytical side of me.

Sounds like a nice build coming together.. I snagged a DPMS on JSE surplus when they had them in stock 2 weeks ago.. keep an eye on brownells and rainier.. when they get them, its only for about 2 days.. I have the new NiB coated Ma Ten set being delivered to me this week to complete my 308 build.. cant wait to get it done, been waiting forever for it... good luck with build!

So I am still waiting for the stock. The barrel and bcg never seem to be in stock :(

Talked to them again today: "Should be coming at the end of this month/first of next month". Whatever that's worth...haha! I'll let you know as soon as it ships.

yeah a few weeks ago they said middle of april.

I was hoping to have this done by May so that I could go to Tiger Valley in June but I do not see that happening.

I called rainer yesterday and they had no idea on the 20" ultra match and BCG availability.
I may switch to the 24" but for some reason I don't want it

I would stick with the 20". 24" is going to get really long in a hurry when you add a suppressor and there's nothing I can do with a 24" .308 that I can't do with a 20".
